Grenzen haben in unserer scheinbar grenzenlos erreichbaren Welt eine ungeahnte Bedeutung bekommen. An der christlichen Spiritualität und der anderer Religionen, die in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten in Afrika, in Asien und in Lateinamerika sowie in Migrationskontexten zur Blüte gekommen ist, kann paradigmatisch studiert werden, wie religiöse Wir-Gruppen sich einander gegenüber abgrenzen, ihre Grenzen ändern und über ihre Grenzen hinweg zu einer einenden, friedlichen Identität finden. Dazu äußern sich in diesem Band Theologinnen und Theologen mit theoretischer und praktischer Erfahrung.
Frontiers have, at different levels, regained momentum again in a seemingly mobile, frontier-free world. Frontiers and experiences to this effect are so far rather neglected ground, even in fields such as ‘intercultural communication’. Research on Christianity and other religions, especially their various expressions flourishing in diverse regional settings such as Africa, Asia, and Latin America as well as in migration-shaped contexts, provides some pointers as to how religious groups protect as well as expand and transform notions of collective identity and belong¬ing and how they explore pathways towards a unifying, peace-enhancing identity. In this volume, theologians from diverse cultural and denominational backgrounds offer theoretical and practical reflection on ‘Religion across frontiers’.
